Dr Cate Gerber
Principal Dentist & Founder
I’m a Brisbane local and the proud founder of Smile Studio Newstead. I graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland in 2001 and have spent the past 20+ years dedicated to helping people feel confident, comfortable, and in control of their oral health.
Over the years, I’ve developed a strong focus on aesthetic and preventative dentistry, combining general dental care with advanced cosmetic treatments, including Invisalign®, Braces and Veneers, to support both the function and beauty of your smile. I’m currently recognised as a Platinum Invisalign® Provider.
I’m incredibly proud of the team we’ve built and the community we’re growing here. Whether you’re here for a routine check-up or a complete smile makeover, you’re in good hands.

I have recently returned home to Brisbane with my young family after living and working in Hobart for the past 7 years. I’m happy to have found a new team in Smile Studio Newstead to continue to provide high quality dentistry and care to my new patients.
With a particular interest and further studies in both fixed braces and clear aligners, I am looking forward to working with you to provide personalised care in all facets of dentistry with long-term results.

Practice Manager
Since 2014, my dental journey has been a remarkable evolution—from the early days as a dental assistant to my current role as practice manager since March 2022 at Smile Studio. Each day, I find joy in guiding patients through their smile transformations, whether it’s through Invisalign or cosmetic procedures.
Beyond the world of dentistry, I cherish my roles as a wife and proud mother of two wonderful kids. Our family adventure is further enriched by the delightful presence of Daisy, our Instagram-famous border collie.
Rhienna Story
Clinical Co-ordinator
I’ve been a dental assistant for over 10 years. I’ve been the clinical coordinator at Smile Studio since July 2022. I enjoy all aspects of dentistry and am passionate about ensuring patients feel comfortable during their dental visit.
In my spare time I am an Instagram content creator and have a strong interest in fashion and fitness.
Savannah Van Zyl
Oral Health Therapist
Originally born in South Africa, I moved to New Zealand at the age of two and have recently relocated to Brisbane with my partner, Rhys. I’m excited to be part of the Smile Studio Newstead team and passionate about building strong connections with my patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and cared for. Outside of work, I love staying active, spending time outdoors, and exploring everything Brisbane has to offer!
