Porcelain Veneers

Reshape & Brighten your teeth with Porcelain or Composite Veneers at our Newstead, Brisbane Studio.

Who Requires Veneers & How They Help?

Depending on each patient’s individual needs Cosmetic Veneers are becoming the most popular treatment for cosmetic improvements to our teeth and smile. So if you are researching how to enhance the cosmetics of your smile, veneers could be the perfect treatment for you.

What problems do Veneers fix?

Given below are issues veneers can effectively fix:

  • Discoloured teeth due to smoking, consuming drinks like wine.
  • Worn out teeth caused by an uneven jawline or unaligned bite.
  • Badly filed teeth from a previous dental procedure.
  • Chipped or broken teeth.
  • Teeth that are uneven and misaligned.
  • Irregularly shaped teeth, for instance, if they have bulges or craters.
  • Teeth with gaps & crooked teeth.
  • Oversized or small teeth.

What to expect when getting Porcelain Veneers?

After an initial consultation to determine your concerns and discussion on how to solve this using veneers, we can have a mock up made from your 3D scan and then try this in to see what the changes can look like without making any permanent changes to your teeth. This way you can “try “ your smile on.

Once your happy with the improvements, we will then prepare or trim your teeth as little as possible, and sometimes we don’t touch them at all with very thin “no prep” veneers.

This conservative approach takes years of skill to determine when and how to trim the teeth and sometimes to minimise tooth reduction we even plan to move your teeth with invisalign and then veneer.

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers help to restore smiles that have been damaged due to problems like cracks, chipping, discoloration, misshapen, or unevenly shaped teeth. These issues can make anyone feel self-conscious. There are many benefits to getting veneers which is why it is one of the most sought-after dental cosmetic procedures.

Feel & Look Natural

The fact that you’re even veneers will go unnoticed because of how subtle they are. The idea behind veneers is to customize them to replicate your teeth so that they feel and look natural. This brings a sense of peace and confidence not having to worry that people are silently judging your teeth and smile.

Stain Resistant

If you love drinking tea or coffee or enjoy sipping on a glass of wine, you’re in luck. Porcelain veneers can resist staining much better than naturally present tooth enamel. They are non-porous, which means that food and drinks that are known to stain won’t be absorbed into the veneers.

Minimal Preperation

Enamel is very important for maintaining teeth health. So while fitting veneers, only a very thin layer is removed. This is done to reduce bulging when the veneers are fitted. Unlike dental bridges or crowns that need more enamel removal to fit the tooth, veneers require only a tiny amount. They are strong and protect the natural teeth from any damage.

Low Maintenance

Even though veneers do not stain, you will have to continue to brush your teeth two times a day and floss to maintain good oral hygiene. But that’s about it. You don’t have to add on to your brushing routine or buy anything extra to help take care of them. Make regular dental appointments to ensure that they are in good condition.

Dental Veneer Frequently Asked Questions

Porcelain veneers, also known as dental porcelain laminates or dental veneers, are very thin custom-made tooth caps that are similar to your teeth. They are designed to cover the surface of the teeth and improve one’s appearance. These caps or shells are fixed to the front of the teeth to hide chipped, uneven, or stained teeth.

They are a great way to improve a smile if teeth are chipped, discolored, or misaligned. It’s not a long process and can be done in just two sessions, and it looks just like real teeth.

An amazing characteristic of porcelain veneers is that they do not stain. As previously discussed, they are non-porous and the material doesn’t catch on to stains. They will need to be brushed as per usual and flossed to maintain good oral health.

You can choose the shape and color. When choosing the veneer’s shape, you’ll have to consider the shape of your face where they complement it. You’ll also want to pick a color that matches your teeth and isn’t too white, it’ll look unnatural and artificial.

From the consultation to the final result, the process takes about 2-3 weeks. Temporary veneers will be made after initial consultation while your custom veneers are being fabricated. Then, your final visit involves fitting the veneers. If changes are required, a few more days will be added on.

Veneers must never be removed once bonded to your teeth. During the process to fit the porcelain veneers, a tiny bit of enamel is removed that cannot ever be replaced. The veneers then act as protectors for your natural teeth once fitted.

Veneers are bonded to your natural teeth and you can eat straight away.

Depending on your specific jaw function, we may issue you with a night splint to protect you from parafunctional night time grinding which could break the veneers.

We also suggest you limit biting into food that requires a lot of force like a whole raw carrot as these can even break natural teeth and possibly the veneer could pop off.

Once completely bonded to the teeth, the longevity of porcelain veneers has an excellent time frame. They last up to more than 20 years if they’re made from good material if you’ve gone for regular checkups, and maintain good oral hygiene.
